Performance Concepts Returns to Whitehorse – Conducting an Operational Review of the City’s Development Approvals Process

The good news: Whitehorse is a prosperous capital city experiencing steady residential and commercial growth.  Timeframes for issuing development permits and building permits are very fast compared to comparable Canadian municipalities.

The performance challenge: Whitehorse is committed to improved service delivery via efficient/standardized building permit application review processes and inspections.  The City’s current development approval processes need to be updated and then delivered in a standardized/measurable business model.  The key is to deliver safe/well designed buildings that enhance the community.

The continuous improvement solution:  Performance Concepts has been retained to conduct a 3rd party operational review of the City’s Development permit and Building permit processes.  The operational review will consider input from City staff, community stakeholders, and the Whitehorse building community.

This assignment falls squarely with the Performance Concepts  “wheelhouse” for executing development approvals reviews for our municipal government clients.  The assignment is well underway and will be completed by Fall 2019.
